Five small ways to put your phone down this week
A weekend away is the deep end. These are the shallow end — small changes you can try at home, starting tonight.
- Charge it outside the bedroom. Buy a cheap alarm clock and let your phone sleep in the kitchen.
- Leave it behind on short walks. Ten minutes to the shop or the sea is enough to notice what’s around you.
- Turn off everything that isn’t a person. Keep notifications for messages from real people; switch off the rest.
- Make the first hour of the day yours. Coffee, breakfast, a walk — before the inbox.
- Put it in a box at dinner. It’s what we do on a Quiete weekend, and it works just as well at home.
Try one this week. If it sticks, add another.
